About Kimberly
Kimberly Romo is thrilled to be back in her hometown. A ninth generation Tucsonan, and graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School, Kimberly's broadcasting career has come full circle by joining the KGUN 9 team.
While attending the University of San Diego, she played Division I volleyball while getting several internships under her belt at KGTV, the ABC affiliate there. Kimberly completed her degree in three years, with a major in Communications and a minor in English. A week after graduating with honors, she left the beach to head back to Arizona for her first on-air job in Yuma. She won several Associated Press awards for her work there, including awards for spot news, enterprise news, and serious feature. After spending two years as a reporter and weekend anchor at KYMA, Kimberly headed back to the beach to anchor the evening newscasts for KSBY, the NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara, CA. She picked up a Golden Mic award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association for her anchoring there, and after three years, decided it was time for a final trip back home to Arizona.
Kimberly and her husband Keith-- a University of Arizona grad-- are active in the Tucson community. They look forward to making a difference by volunteering. They also enjoy spending time with their families, and keeping up with their dogs-- a beagle named Lucy, and a vizsla named Sadie.
Kimberly enjoys helping Tucsonans get their day off to a great start. You can catch her from 5 to 7 everyday weekday morning on Good Morning Tucson, and again on KGUN 9 On Your Side at 11.
